Rex Ventors was founded in 1993 with the first litter of puppies being born in 1998. Between 1998 and 2010, a total of 21 litters were born. The Rex Ventors dogs were very successful in the show rings, both in Sweden and abroad. Several dogs were exported who went on to have a strong impact on the breed in other countries and parts of the world. Many new breeders started their breeding with a Rex Ventors bred dog as foundation. We're proud to say that we think that we have contributed in a good way to where the breed is today.
During the first 12 years, Veronica Thorén managed the kennel by herself. She was heavily involved in the show scene and promoted Rex Ventors dogs in the show rings in Sweden and abroad. She also put a lot of effort into creating a tightly knit team of puppy families who both travelled, competed and had lots of fun together. Apart from this, she also trained and competed in obediance and field tracking.
From these first years of breeding, the kennel produced an impressive 48 champions and many additional CAC/CACIB-winners. The kennel has been awarded World Winner, World Veteran Winner, 2 x European Winner, 2 x Crufts Best of Breed, 3 x Nordic Winner, 7 x Swedish Winner, 4 x Norwegian Winner, 5 x Finnish Winner.
We also had the top winning RR in Sweden 2001-2007 and have bred the top winning RR in the UK in 2002, top winning RR i Norway in 2004 and top winning RR in Denmark in 2013/14. We've had BISS or ruBISS-winners at National Specialty level six times in Sweden and six times in Norway, as well as BISS/ruBISS wins in other countries including Australia, Denmark and France. We've also bred several dogs who competed successfully in obediance.
After a 10 year break from breeding, Rex Ventors had some fresh blood added as Veronica's daughter Anaelle Thorén became co-owner. Anaelle is very active in both training and showing the dogs as well as planning the breeding with her mum and taking care of and training the puppies.
Anaelle follows in her mother's footsteps, not only through breeding and handling dogs but also because of the interest for and dedication to dog training including obedicance, rally, tricks and NoseWork.
Except for Veronica and Anaelle, two more people are of vital importance for the Rex Ventors koncept. Angelie Thorén, Veronica's youngest daughter, is involved in the daily care and training of the dogs and puppies. Louise Lundberg, owner of Aska (dam of Rex Ventors V- and X-litter), is also a key player in breeding plans, training, puppy family support and planning and execution of kennel activities.
The fact that it's four of us doing this together, not only makes it more rewarding for us - it also provides a very solid support system for our puppy families.
All Rex Ventors puppies are reared in accordance with the Puppy Culture protocol. This is a positive reinforcement-based program in which we observe the individual puppy and serve it with age appropriate learning experiences which build confidence and self-efficacy. It's an ambitious and time consuming program but is worth every minute.
As a puppy family, we expect you to carry on this training in order to bring out the best qualities in your puppy. We are of course available for support and inspiration as you take on a fantastic journey with your new friend.
